American Legion Post #1217 in Long Point, IL

This is now the main function of Long Point.  Fish fries are held here every second Thursday of every month except in July and August.  This building can be rented for family gatherings, funeral dinners, quilting bees, 4-h meeting place, etc. for a small fee.

This building used to be the local grocery store with a gas station next to it.  Many enjoyable years have been spent here as a grocery store and now as American Legion Post.  The Legion Auxiliary ladies meet here on the 3rd Monday of each month except January, and the ladies help with fish fries each month.  The ladies just had their mother/daughter banquet here April 24th, which has been an ongoing event for many years.  On March 21st, ladies packed care boxes for all our active military, totaling 38 boxes this year.  This project has gone on for nine years now with Marian Ruff chairing this event each year.  Between 200 and 250 people come to Legion Fish fry.
